Thelma Harrington Bell (1896-1985) and Corydon Whitten Bell (1894-1980) were North Carolina authors. As a husband and wife team, they wrote and illustrated a number of children's books, many about North Carolina. In 1961 Thelma Bell received the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award, and several of the Bell's books have been Junior Literary Guild selections. Born in Ohio in 1894, Corydon Bell began drawing as a child. In addition to creating book and magazine illustrations, Bell was a painter and an author in his own right.
